Keep Calm and Can On...

Dilled Pickle and Onion Slices

There is something soothing... so very calming... about canning.  The rhythm of of the knifework, the sparkle of the crystal clear jars, the steady flow of steam from the canner, the gratification of work done well... perhaps it is the capturing in glass the perfect ripe joy of summer, resting in the knowledge that the pantry is stocked full.

I could stay home, gardening and canning, all day and dwell in a state of continuous prayer and perfect contentment.

What and how are you preserving these days?

Take a lesson from the ants...
Learn from their ways and become wise!
they labor hard all summer,
 gathering food for the winter.
Proverbs 6:6,8
