Our New BFF...

Rainbarrel Love

After much pondering and hand-wringing and trips to ogle its beauty at Green Alternatives, we 'took the plunge'...
into rainbarrel stewardship!

Tom set it up in no time, and after a couple of Spring showers, IT WAS FULL OF WATER!  Turn the handle, water for the garden flows out, free and without chemical additives and, well, free!  It's positioned on the side of the house in the vegetable garden, so we just fill up the watering cans and refresh the plants.

Here are a few garden photos from this weekend:

Though we wander in this world that is not our true home, we are called to be stewards of its goodness.  Take care of your little plot of this earth, no matter how small.  Dig and water and nurture.  Grow something.  Enjoy its freshness on your plate.  Share it with others.

"Build homes, and plan to stay. Plant gardens, and eat the food they produce."
Jeremiah 29:5

We have been using our rain barrel for about six years now! Now I wish we had a second one.

I have to admit - I'm jealous. This is on my "to do" list. Must. Get. One.

Your garden is lovely Donna Rae. The rain barrel has been on my wish list for quite some time. It looks great. Where did you get that one? I like the looks of it.

Lorie, we got ours at Green Alternatives, a local store specializing in all things sustainable, and it's located inside a community farm market. Great place! Alot of garden centers now carry them as well.

We have three and I've almost drained them since we haven't had any rain in about two weeks. Thankfully it's supposed to rain today so they can fill up.

Love your garden! The little seating area is so cute!

Wow, three of them would be great! Thanks for the comment, Manuela... the seating area was just for me, a little space to rest while working in the veggie garden.
